| SPLASHING CHEMICALS |

KUALA LUMPUR, May 9 (Bernama) -- Police have intensified efforts to track
down two men suspected of splashing chemical liquids on unsuspecting members of
the public around this city, said city CID chief Datuk Ku Chin Wah.
"The suspects on motorcycles will come from behind and splash the liquids
on the victims, usually women who are walking to or from their places of work.
"The liquids leave some irritation effect on the victims but do not cause
any burning on the skin," he said in a statement here today.
He said in most of the attacks, the suspects acted when the victims were
alone, often in parking areas, at bus terminals and the LRT stations.
Ku said from February till March 27, police received 18
reports of such cases including one, which happened outside a school in Bangsar.
"The incidents abated for a while but have happened again, We received
reports of two cases each from the Sentul and Dang Wangi districts two days
ago," he said, adding that police had yet to ascertain the motive behind the
attacks.
He urged members of the public with information on these cases to call the
police at 03-21159999.
